Our corporate philosophy embraces a commitment to improving the quality of life in the community. In each of our locations, we play a vital role, as both a major employer and significant contributor to local charities.
Our properties provide ongoing employment and increased job growth within the community. We take an active role in extending opportunities to women and minorities through our support of various organizations, including MBE (Minority-owned Business Enterprises) and WBE (Women-owned Business Enterprises).
The Company pays significant taxes in the communities in which it operates. During 2007, Pinnacle paid or accrued $228 million in gaming taxes, $19.4 million in payroll taxes, $10.6 million in property taxes, and $4.0 million in sales taxes. Setting aside income taxes, the Company paid or accrued $262 million for taxes to state and local authorities for all of 2007.
We also contribute to local charities and lend our support, facilities and staff to community-based charity events, ranging from festivals to fundraisers.
