About Us
Welcome to Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc., a leading developer, owner and operator of casino gaming resorts. The company, based in Las Vegas, owns and operates six major casinos in Nevada, Louisiana, Indiana and Missouri, as well as small casinos in Argentina and The Bahamas.
In addition to its diversified portfolio of casinos, Pinnacle has several development projects planned or under construction. Pinnacle plans to leverage its marketing and operating systems by building a national network of gaming properties.
The company traces its roots back to 1938, when movie mogul Jack L. Warner opened the celebrated Hollywood Park Turf Club racetrack in Inglewood, Calif. The original shareholders included some of Hollywood’s biggest names, such as Walt Disney, Mervyn LeRoy and Bing Crosby.
After many years in the horseracing business, the company began its transformation into a major casino operator with the acquisition of Boomtown, Inc. in 1997. The purchase included the Boomtown Casino & Hotel Reno in Verdi, Nevada and Boomtown Casino New Orleans in Harvey, Louisiana, both of which the company owns today.
In 1998, the company expanded further into the casino business with the acquisition of Casino Magic Corp. That purchase included Pinnacle’s current properties in Bossier City, Louisiana and its boutique casinos in Argentina. With its success in the casino business, the company sold off the Hollywood Park racetrack in 1999, and in 2000 changed its name to Pinnacle Entertainment.
The Belterra Casino Resort & Spa made its debut in 2000 as Pinnacle’s first company-designed and developed gaming resort. Belterra, located in southern Indiana midway between Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky, features a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course, a full-service spa, more than 600 spacious guestrooms and a host of other amenities that make it one of the region’s favorite destinations.
In 2005, Pinnacle opened L’Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles, Louisiana, which quickly became the premier resort serving the southwest Louisiana/East Texas market. The casino resort, which includes a Fazio-designed championship golf course, spa, lush pool area, extensive retail area, private villa complex other amenities, was expanded in early 2008 to nearly 1,000 guestrooms.
Pinnacle’s newest resort, Lumière Place, opened in downtown St. Louis in December 2007. This exciting casino anchors the Lumière Place entertainment district, which includes The Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis and HoteLumière. The district also encompasses the Admiral Riverboat Casino, a local landmark that Pinnacle acquired in 2006. Lumière Place represents one of the most ambitious gaming developments ever outside of Las Vegas and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The company’s operating properties form a solid foundation for its development plans, which include major new gaming resorts and property improvements. For more information on Pinnacle’s development projects, click here.
